Yuyuevirus is a genus ofnegative-strand RNA viruses which infect invertebrates.[2] Member viruses have bisegmented genomes.[3][4] It is the only genus in the familyYueviridae, which in turn is the only family in the orderGoujianvirales and classYunchangviricetes. The genus contains two species.
The nameYuyuevirus is from於越 (Yúyuè), a synonym for theSpring and Autumn period state ofYuè, along with-virus, the suffix for a virus genus.[5]Yueviridae comes from越 (Yuè), also referring to Yuè state, with the suffix for virus family-viridae.[5]Goujianvirales is named in honor ofGoujian (Gōujiàn勾踐) the king of Yuè State.[5]Yunchangviricetes is named in honor ofYǔncháng (Yǔncháng允常), the father of Gōujiàn.[5]
Yuyueviruses have negative-sense, single-stranded RNA genomes that are bisegemented. The total genome length is 7.8–8.2 kbp.[3][4]
The genus contains the following species:[1]
