Yehia Bahei El-Din (Arabic:يحيى بهاء الدين)FAAS is an Egyptian professor ofmaterials Science. He was the Dean of Engineering and, as of December 2022, the Vice-president for Research and Postgraduate Studies atthe British University in Egypt.
He obtained hisBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering fromCairo University in 1972,Master of Science in Solid Mechanics and Composite Materials fromDuke University in 1976, andDoctor of Philosophy fromDurham University in 1979.[1][2][3]
El-Din is a professor at British University in Egypt.[3] He was the Dean of Engineering and, as of December 2022, the Vice-president for Research and Postgraduate Studies and the founding director of the Centre for Advanced Materials atthe British University in Egypt.[4][5] However, he had taught previously in Cairo University, Duke University,Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,North Carolina State University and theUniversity of Utah.[2][6]
El-Din's research focuses onsolid mechanics offiber-reinforced composite.[7][8][9]
In 2018, El-Din was elected as a Fellow ofAfrican Academy of Sciences.[2] In 2019, El-Din won the “Nile Award” in Advanced Technological Sciences from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Egypt.[10]
