Wikipedia talk:Notability (sports)

Should the events names as "European championship" and "World Championship" be considered "major" for the purpose ofWP:BASICSPORT? --Altenmann>talk 16:10, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Talk:Misfits Boxing

There is an ongoing dispute among editors regarding whether theFloyd Mayweather Jr. vs Deji event should be included in the "List of events" table for this article.

Some editors argued the event should beexcluded because Misfits Boxing was not a primary promoter of the event, which was promoted by Global Titans and Mayweather Promotions, and that the use of the "MF & DAZN: X Series Presents" branding alone may not satisfy WP:DEFINING for inclusion.

Other editors contend the event should beincluded because the event was marketed in association with the Misfits Boxing brand, including use of the "MF & DAZN: X Series Presents" branding in certain promotional material.

Sources cited in the discussion include coverage fromDAZN'sYouTube playlist,Dexerto, Misfits Boxing's website, as well as event listings and databases identifying the promoters involved.

Here is the question: Should the Mayweather Jr. vs. Deji event be included in the Misfits Boxing event table?

Talk:FCSB

Should the article Fotbal Club FCSB describe the club as being established in 2003 and limit its infobox and historical content to the post-2003 entity, rather than including the foundation date, honours, or history of CSA Steaua București (founded 1947), in light of current reliable secondary sources, Romanian state authority records, and UEFA’s recognition following final court rulings?Cezxmer (talk) 20:08, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

Talk:Imane Khelif

There are two questions:
  • A. Should this article mention that Khelif has reportedly stated that she has theSRY gene? (sources:France24LeMonde)
  • B. Should this include a quote of what Khelif stated in the interview?

Talk:Killing of Alex Pretti

Should this article mention Pretti's video recorded confrontation with DHS agents that occured eleven days before his shooting in the "Background" section?
  1. Include information on this event in the "Background" section of this article. (In another section such as the "Investigation" section, this information may be linked back to, but does not necessarily need to be described in detail twice)
  2. Don't include information on this event in the "Background" section of this article (However, it may be mentioned in a different section)
  3. (new option)Don't include, but refer: Don't include detailed information on this event in the background section, but instead refer readers in the section to the info by placing a sentence such as "After the shooting, investigators found a video of a confrontation between Pretti and federal agents, seeInvestigations section" in the "Background" section

There is no option here to not mention this video at any point in the article, because I did not see anyone suggest that in the previous sections, but that can still be suggested.

SeeTalk:Killing_of_Alex_Pretti#Pretti's_previous_altercation_with_ICE_not_mentioned for a previous discussion.

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Olympics

Starting an RfC on the placement ofTemplate:2026 Winter Olympics andTemplate:2024 Summer Olympics (and all similar templates) across main Olympic Games articles such as2026 Winter Olympics and2024 Summer Olympics.

Until earlier this month, these templates have been located directly below the infobox, usually within the introduction. As their recent removal, appears to impact navigability to other related articles such as2024 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations. Open to suggestions on if they should be re-added as before, relocated elsewhere within the main article, or completely removed. -Epluribusunumyall (talk) 21:39, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
