TheWellsville Daily Reporter is an Americandaily newspaper published Sundays and weekdays inWellsville, New York. TheDaily Reporter is thenewspaper of record forAllegany County, New York, and the only daily published in the county.[3] Its Sunday edition is calledThe Spectator and published in conjunction withThe Evening Tribune ofHornell, New York.
In 1987, the paper was acquired byHollinger.[4] Former ownerGateHouse Media purchased roughly 160 daily and weekly newspapers from Hollinger in 1997.[5] GateHouse Media, which also ownsThe Evening Tribune, also owns four other newspapers in theSouthern Tier,The Leader daily ofCorning, and the weekliesThe Chronicle-Express ofPenn Yan,Genesee Country Express ofDansville andSteuben Courier ofBath.
In 2017, the paper's print edition was merged intoThe Spectator, followed by its digital edition and website in 2022.[6][7]
