Vulcan Pass (Romanian:Pasul Vulcan,Hungarian:Vulkán-szoros)[1] is amountain pass connecting theGorj andHunedoara counties ofRomania, on theJiu River valley.
The pass is located in theVâlcan Mountains, at an altitude of 1,621 m (5,318 ft), and is crossed by thenational roadDN66 [ro], part ofEuropean route E79. TheDefileul Jiului National Park is aprotected area that encompasses the Vulcan Pass. The nearby city ofVulcan is named after the pass.
