Visa policy of Ghana

Visitors toGhana must obtain avisa from one of theGhanaian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the countries or territories that are either visa exempt or whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival.[1][2]

Visa exemption

Visa is also not required for holders of aDual Nationality Card issued by Ghana. Pre-arranged visa may be picked up on arrival.[1]

Holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports issued to nationals ofBrazil,China,Cuba,Equatorial Guinea,Germany,India,Iran,Malta,Namibia,South Africa,United Arab Emirates,Venezuela and holders of diplomatic passports issued to nationals ofTurkey do not require a visa for Ghana.

Visa on arrival

Since 1 July 2016, all nationals of theAfrican Union that are neither visa-exempt nor eligible to obtain agratis visa can instead obtain a regular visa valid for a maximum stay of 30 days upon arrival in Ghana, for a fee of 150USD.[2][25][26]

The arrangement would be piloted at theKotoka International Airport inAccra for 3 months, and thereafter extended to all other entry points of the country.[27][28]

Nationals ofEgypt can obtain agratis visa free of charge upon arrival in Ghana. Thegratis visa is valid for a maximum stay of 60 days.[2]

If special requirements are satisfied, citizens of countries without any diplomatic or consular mission of Ghana who are travelling on short notice may also obtain a visa on arrival.[29]

Visa is granted on arrival for holders of a copy of a pre-arranged approval from immigration.
