VdB 1 (LBN 578, orMagakian 3) is a smallreflection nebula in theconstellationCassiopeia. It lies a fewarcminutes to the south-east of the bright yellow-hued giant starBeta Cassiopeiae, officially namedCaph. VdB 1 lies about 1,600 light-years away.[1][2] Close to VdB 1 is thedark nebulaLDN 1265. It is barely visible due to the brightness of Beta Cassiopeiae.[2]
