Hey. I noticed that a lot of your recent citations just use bare URLs for citation. My understanding ofWP:CITE is thatWP:CITEHOW specifies certain info that should be included, which bare URLs are inferior to. And you could've pasted those bare URLs into the automatic citation tool for a more detailed reference. Tell me if I'm misunderstanding, but I don't think auser warning template for bare URLs would exist otherwise.Spagooder (talk)16:46, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thank you foryour contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to giveSpecial Operation Group a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits thepage history, which islegally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to bemoved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account isfour days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the"Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may behidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates aredirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions atrequested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them atWikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you.Dl2000 (talk)19:17, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed onCategory:Disbanded battalions of Ukraine indicating that it is currently empty, and is not adisambiguation category, acategory redirect, afeatured topics category, under discussion atCategories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted undersection C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

I have made a few word changes for clarity. After doing that, I found only one sentence that I thought should be separated. I think you will find these changes to be minor and non-controversial. If I inadvertently made an error, please change it. As I noted on the assessment page, the lead needs to be expanded for B class. I have added citation needed tags in line with the project's B class guidelines and practice. I assume you have the available sources from which to take the citations.
There are two sentences that I think need to be clarified. (1) "A year later, in 1975, 444th Commando would be sent toPanjshir Valley in order to quell an uprising started byAhmad Shah Massoud (then-22 years old) andGulbuddin Hekmetyar, being assisted by the IranianSAVAK and the PakistaniISI" Did the Iranians and Pakistanis aid the 444th Commando or the forces of Massoud and Hekmetyar? If the 44th, I think the phrase "being assisted...." should be moved after the word "Commando." If the insurgents, I suggest changing "being assisted" to "who were assisted."
(2) "The Commando Brigades were, in contrast, considered reliable...." What is this "in contrast" to? This does not seem to follow directly from the preceding text. Could "in contrast" even be eliminated? This paragraph also seems to be a good point to insert another subsection heading to separate a long section devoted to the First and Second Battles of Zhawar, since the remainder of the text in that subsection is about subsequent events.
Thanks for this detailed article. Please let me know when you have made changes so I can assess the final version.Donner60 (talk)05:21, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 152.32.98.90. I was told by a previous mod that I needed to delete browser caches aside from making sure my VPN is turned off if I'm going to edit a Wiki article. I did that, the block's not cleared. Should the browser cache clear everything (history, etc) for all websites? You have recently edited a page related tothe Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated ascontentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics anddoesnot imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to ascontentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by theArbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipediaadministrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should editcarefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topicsprocedures, you may ask them at thearbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topichere. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the{{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references, as you did toMogami-class frigate! However, adding abare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference tolink rot. It is preferable to use propercitation templates whenciting sources, including details such as title, author, date, and any other information necessary for abibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the{{cite web}} template to cite a web page:
Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.which displaysinline in the running text of the article as:
and displays underReferences as:
If you've already added one or more bare URLs to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations; try thereFill tool, which can resolve some bare references semi-automatically.Once again, thanks for adding references to articles.EditorGirlAL07 (talk)06:31, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't change the format of dates, as you did toSpecial Detective Unit. As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based onstrongnational ties to the topic. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.
For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please seethis page.
If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place{{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you.Denisarona (talk)10:29, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I read the article for the purpose of assessing it. Please either change Variants to Variant and eliminate the original as a variant or delete that section entirely. (The first version can't also be a variant.) There are no additional details in the variant section so it does not seem necessary to add that. If you still think it is useful to keep the extra mention, please add one or both of the citations that used earlier in the article. Standing alone in another section, it cannot be supported by earlier citations for B class. I assume that the two citations mentioned with the earlier mention of the variant are citations you could add in the variant section if you want to keep it. Other than these points, I think that you have added enough to the article to make it B class.Donner60 (talk)06:46, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploadingFile:MVS screenshot.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim ofnon-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails thefirst non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may haveno free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
