Ways to improve Fourth Kazakh–Dzungar War

[edit]

Hello, HorseBro the hemionus,

Thank you for creatingFourth Kazakh–Dzungar War.

I have taggedthe page as having some issues to fix, as a part of ourpage curation process and note that:

I can't find any reference to a "Fourth Kazakh-Dzungar War" in any sources or books. It is important that this is not a "manufactured term" unique to Wikipedia which would beoriginal research. We must only follow what the established sources say and the terms they use. thanks.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with{{Re|Aszx5000}}. Remember to sign your reply with~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit theTeahouse.

Delivered via thePage Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Understood, then i'll change it to Kazakh–Dzungar War (1708–1718).- The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)11:02, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Or add it to the main article on theKazakh–Dzungar Wars which is not too big an article. Often, imho, it is easier to maintain large well made articles than ones broken into sections. Remember, we are just here for the casual reader, trying to give the main points and the list of sources so they can read more. Doesn't have to have too many details. Regardless, do it the way the best historians of this era do it. thanks.Aszx5000 (talk)11:06, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

1771 Torghut migration reference issues

[edit]

When you created this article, you place 2 malformed Sfn cites in the text - Perdue 2009 & Clarke 2004. These 2 Sfn cites do not have a complete citatin such as cite book or cite web etc to link to, they are orphans. I have no idea what source these 2 Sfn cites are referring to. Please either replace the Sfn cites with a complete citation or place the complete citation within a separate reference section. Refer toHelp:Shortened footnotes.Template:Sfn, andTemplate:Sfn#Usage for instructions. Once you fix this issue the article will no longer be inCategory:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. -Shearonink (talk)23:46, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission atArticles for creation:Dzungar–Russian conflicts (February 2)

Your recent article submission toArticles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by KeyolTranslater was:
This submission is not adequately supported byreliable sources.Reliable sources are required so that information can beverified. If you need help with referencing, please seeReferencing for beginners andCiting sources.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Some of the sources are duplicates (as in the same book is cited but made into different citations), instead of doing that you can just put the range of page numbers (so from P. XYZ - ABC) which helps make it easier for a reviewer to see and helps clean up the sources area. So a little clean up is required and then resubmit and me or another reviewer will take a look again.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit itafter they have been resolved.
Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk)09:09, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I am not affiliated with this discussion (this popped up on my watchlist) but this is a comically petty reason fordeclining a review. 99% of reviewers would just accept it and then tag it, or leave a comment on the draft for you to see.
The standard reason the reviewer left for declining is a lie and differs from their personal comment (one may wonder if it's because their personal comment is not a standard or valid reason to decline something at AfC)
You don't need to change the duplications before resubmitting @HorseBro the hemionus, and I would go so far as to say that the reviewers suggestion to amalgamate all the different cited page numbers into one source would be massively unhelpful to both reviewers and the general public. A reviewer/reader would need to take a look atevery single page of the source mentioned in the combined reference to find the information relating to a sourced sentence.aesurias(ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk)10:03, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Huh what? @Aesurias, could you explain again?- The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)10:15, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Your draft should never have been declined, the advice they gave you was extremely poor (to remove individual page numbers for each citation that back up each sentence in the article and put them all into one large reference) and it would make reading the article and verifying information significantly more difficult.aesurias(ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk)10:17, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
So what now? @Aesurias- The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)10:19, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'd just resubmit it, you don't need to change the references. The sources you use are large books, it is completely fine to use individual citations to back up individual claims.aesurias(ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk)10:20, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Aesurias @HorseBro the hemionus
  1. I put the standard reason “improperly sourced” which I deemed it to be, however the text of improperly sourced doesn’t discuss problems with sources (perhaps I should’ve instead filled in a custom reason)
  2. As a reviewer I’ve found it unhelpful and myself have received comments about multiple sources being the same, I just list the page numbers or put a wider spread of pages
  3. I’ve accepted multiple of this user’s pages before and they have been very helpful and a pretty good article writer, I just saw that these sources seem a bit hard to follow, although there doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with the sources on the surface.
Mwen Sé Kéyòl Translator-a (talk)11:10, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok.- The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)14:30, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@KeyolTranslater, "improperly sourced" is appropriate when the topic is notable, but the sources are, for example, deprecated or non existant. You're not supposed to decline articles for what amounts to formatting issues. --asilvering (talk)01:36, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Nonexistent User pages

[edit]

Hello, HorseBro the hemionus,

Do not create User pages for non-existent editors. They will be deleted. It's okay if you want to make user pages in your own User space but present them as if they are actually editors here when they are unregistered. If you have questions, please bring them tothe Teahouse.LizRead!Talk!06:41, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean? They are my old accounts, not unregistered users. I only moved their names to "The[example]hemmy".— The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)07:24, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of the Kazakh Khanate

[edit]

Hi. You reverted my edit on the flag of the Kazakh Khanate. As I mentioned before, the blue flag of the khanate is fictional and should not be used on wikipedia. Now, I see the tamga is included in the flag section, which is incorrect. The red flag is a more accurate representation, and I plan to draw it in the future with sources. If you prefer to use flags in the article, please use the red one, although its quality could be improved.GnuUserr (talk)18:49, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Kazakh–Dzungar_War_(1723–1730)

[edit]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue tovandalize Wikipedia, as you did atDraft:Kazakh–Dzungar_War_(1723–1730), you may beblocked from editing.Frimshaqi (talk)04:25, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Wait no, I was gonna nominate it for MfD as the page is beyond fixing, it may be better to start from scratch. Starting from scratch doesn't necessarily require getting the old versions deleted first.— The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)04:38, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If you want it deleted, you should do{{G7}}. If you want to do MFD, you should really installTwinkle and nominate it through that.45dogs (they/them)(talk page)(contributions)04:50, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This warning is wholly improper! It istheir draft page, they can do what they'd like with it, including removing all content from it and requesting it be deleted.aesurias(ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk)04:51, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't theirs (perWP:OWN). But it also clearlyisn't vandalism,Frimshaqi.45dogs (they/them)(talk page)(contributions)05:11, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I meant what I said in the sense that they:
1) created it
2) added all of the content
3) blanked it and nominated it for deletion
Nothing to warn anybody about. The editor who gave the warning appears to be working on an anti-vandal bot, so perhaps this was an automated detection, without human oversight (The alternative, that somebody developing an anti-vandal bot knows this little about what vandalism is and is not, is worrying)aesurias(ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk)05:17, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It appears to be a user script rather than a bot, similar to Antivandal or Interceptor or any other counter vandalism script, not a bot.45dogs (they/them)(talk page)(contributions)05:23, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
how do i unsubscripe to this talk page topic it's annoying when i am working on the article— The Khan of the universe and the Hoofed animals. (talk)05:39, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This is your talk page. There is a large "unsubscribe button" at the top right of each individual thread that you can click.aesurias(ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk)05:44, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I was working on a anti-vandal bot. However I didn't make the bot at that time. Around this time I heard that blanking pages was bad and I was like pretty inexperienced so I thought I caught some troll in the act.Frimshaqi (talk)06:37, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Nvm this was because of the bot I programmed it with key shortcuts but i forgot those worked while typing so i accidently clicked on the key that automatically undoes a message and sends an automated warningFrimshaqi (talk)06:41, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
