Sun Xiaochuan moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created,Sun Xiaochuan, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations fromreliable, independent sources.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is ofcentral importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft todraftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia'sgeneral notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Praxidicae (talk)14:19, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Some advice on the articleSun Xiaochuan.

[edit]

I will comment in both English and Mandarin in this topic.

I know you want to spread knowledge to the world with what you have already know. But it seems that you are not so used toEnglish writing style (I mean punctuation, spelling, translation and so on).

And it appears that you are new to Wikipedia, so if possible, you can write the new article inyour sandbox and move the page to the main article.

For more help, you can contact me onmy talk page. As to Chinese Wikipedia community, you can find it atzh:WP:QQ.

Many thanks. --BrandNewJimZhang(talk)14:21, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright

[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello 金色黎明, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions toNiet Molotoff have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in thepublic domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under asuitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, seeWikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoidcopyright andplagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate asmall amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with doublequotation marks (") and cite the source using aninline citation. You can read about this atWikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See alsoHelp:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all informationin your own words and structure, in properparaphrase. Following the source's words too closely can createcopyright problems, so it is not permitted here; seeWikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources toverify the information and to demonstrate that the content is notoriginal research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content isWikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to reviewWikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • Ifyou own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, youmay be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable,to the world, into thepublic domain (PD) or under asuitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. SeeWikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Invery rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) itmay be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help atWikipedia:Media copyright questions, thehelp desk or theTeahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sourcesmay not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If youdo confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; seeWikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps inWikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See alsoWikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must beblocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page.I see no evidence that the translation has no copyright. Thank you.Doug Wellertalk15:08, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect date metadata in Benning Wentworth article

[edit]

Youchanged the birth and death dates in the infobox to use date templates. The input for these templates must be in the Gregorian calendar otherwise they emit false metadata. But the birth date, July 24, 1696, is a Julian calendar date. Thus the date templates must not be used.Jc3s5h (talk)19:35, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

GA nomation of11th Legislative Yuan presidential election

[edit]

I ended up tagging your GA review page of the11th Legislative Yuan presidential election underCSD G6 as GA nominators should not be reviewing their own articles. For one, it defeats the purpose of a GA in the first place, having it be peer reviewed and up to reasonable standards for GA. It also ends up breaking the GAN system, but don't worry too much about it. If you're wondering, there is instructions for nominators atWikipedia:Good article nominations/Instructions.
