Sir Tofiga Vaevalu Falani GCMG MBE is a Tuvaluan religious minister who has served asGovernor-General of Tuvalu since 2021 and the president of theChurch of Tuvalu since 2008.[2] In his capacity as church president, he has represented the church at meetings of the Central Committee of theWorld Council of Churches in 2009[3] and 2011.[4]

In September 2021, Falani was appointedGovernor-General of Tuvalu byQueen Elizabeth II.

As governor-general, Falani represents the reigningmonarch of Tuvalu in the country, acting asviceroy for Tuvalu. Falani previously served as the acting governor-general on 14 August 2017 during the absence of SirIakoba Italeli.[5]

Falani was appointedMember of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for public and community service in the2014 New Year Honours.[6][7]

On 18 September 2022, Falani was appointed byKing Charles III asKnight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George (GCMG) in the2022 Special Honours.[8][9][10]
