Termarr Johnson (born June 11, 2004) is an American professionalbaseballsecond baseman andshortstop in thePittsburgh Pirates organization.

Amateur career

Johnson was born inAtlanta, Georgia to Terry and Kim Johnson.[1][2][3][4] He attendedBenjamin Elijah Mays High School.[5][6][7] During the summer of 2021, Johnson participated in theBreakthrough Series.[8] He also played in theHigh School All-American Game as well as participating in the All-Star High School Home Run Derby atCoors Field in which he finished in third place with 24 home runs.[9][10] That same summer, he participated in the Perfect Game All-American Classic Home Run Derby which he won.[11]

Johnson entered his senior season in 2022 as a top-five prospect for the upcoming draft.[12][13][14] During his senior year, he committed to playcollege baseball atArizona State University.[15] Following the season's end, he traveled toSan Diego where he participated in the Draft Combine.[16]

Prior to the draft Johnson appeared on the cover ofBaseball America with fellow Atlanta native, and top draft prospect,Druw Jones.[17]

Professional career

ThePittsburgh Pirates selected Johnson in the first round, with the fourth overall selection, of the2022 Major League Baseball draft.[18] Johnson signed with the Pirates and received a $7,219,000signing bonus.[19][20]

Johnson made his professional debut with theRookie-levelFlorida Complex League Pirates.[21] After nine games, he was promoted to theBradenton Marauders of theSingle-AFlorida State League.[22] Over 23 games between the two teams, he batted .222 with one home run, six RBIs, and six stolen bases.[23] He returned to Bradenton to open the 2023 season.[24] In early August, he was promoted to theGreensboro Grasshoppers of theHigh-ASouth Atlantic League.[25] Over 105 games played, Johnson compiled aslash line of .244/.422/.438 with 18 home runs, 59 RBIs, 12 doubles, and ten stolen bases.[26] He was assigned back to Greensboro to open the 2024 season.[27] In late August, he was promoted to theAltoona Curve of theDouble-AEastern League.[28] Over 124 games between the two teams, Johnson batted .237 with 15 home runs, 54 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases.[29]

Johnson was assigned back to Altoona for the entirety of the 2025 season.[30] He played in 119 games and hit .272 with nine home runs, 35 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases.[31]

International career

In 2019, Johnson was named to the2019 USA Baseball 15U National Team for the WBSC U-15 World Cup Americas Qualifier and won a gold medal.[32] In 2021, he played for theUSA Baseball 18U National Team in a friendly series against Canada.[33] Johnson was named to theUnited States national baseball team for the2024 WBSC Premier12.[34]

Personal life

Johnson is the youngest of four brothers.[35] His oldest brother, Tervont, is an assistant coach for the Georgetown Hoyas baseball team.[36] Another brother, Terrenz, is a music artist who performs under the stage name "Levels." His brother Tervell plays baseball and is an outfielder for theUniversity of Texas Rio Grande Valley.[37]
