Navbox conversion

[edit]

Trying a reorg of this. Thoughts? If it works out, will probably do the same totemplate:Unix commands.Chris Cunningham09:50, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Navbox conversion was a great idea. Good job!Edurant11:35, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whats the point of this navbox?

[edit]

Indexing Window commands? Or indexing windows commands that have an associated wikipedia article? Navboxes are used for the latter. For the former, either a "List of..." article or a category is used. Can't really decide what I want more - remove the unwikilinked commands or let them stay. Requesting comments. --soumtalk19:51, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Keep! I agree it might not be that usefull right now with only some blue links, but it reminds people that there are still some Windows commands that don't have their own article (although they should have!). All we need to do is write some articles for those commands or - if possible - include the description of the Windows implementations into the article of the corresponding Unix commands with the same name, thus to creating platform neutral articles likecd (command),exit (command),mkdir etc. I'm planning to do this withmore (Unix),sort (Unix) andwhoami (Unix), just like I already did withalias (command).Ghettoblaster (talk)20:08, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. --soumtalk05:40, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could we please add the Wikibooks commands :Cipher,Diskperf,Dnscmd,Eventcreate,Eventtriggers,Ipv6,Jview,Keyb,Mem,Nlsfunc,Scandisk,Typeperf ?JackPotte (talk)12:43, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've just integrated them inthe French version.JackPotte (talk)15:55, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Articlefor_loop (link target) does not have any information about this command. -Yyy (talk)12:35, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IBM category?

[edit]

I believe that this template shouldn't categorize intoCategory:DOS on IBM PC compatibles because it doesn't talk about it. To my mind it would better make a subcategory ofCategory:MS-DOS/Windows Command Prompt commands, which is this template topic.JackPotte (talk)19:05, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I just removedCategory:DOS on IBM PC compatibles from this template. We haveCategory:DOS commands andCategory:Windows commands, shouldn'tCategory:MS-DOS/Windows Command Prompt commands just be acontainer category that only contains those two subcategories? I know there's a lot of overlap, but if we don't care to distinguish those commands that are in DOS but notCommand Prompt, and vice versa, then we should just merge the DOS and Windows command categories intoCategory:MS-DOS/Windows Command Prompt commands.Wbm1058 (talk)15:34, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

join

[edit]

Not sure why "join" isn't listed...AnonMoos (talk)13:24, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See below. There currently is no article about thejoin command to link to.Ghettoblaster (talk)16:43, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ftp and tftp

[edit]

ftp is included as a command in Windows, and tftp can be added as an optional Windows component.John-a-s (talk)15:07, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a known issue. These commands are currently not included in the Navbox just because there are no articles about these commands yet. The corresponding articlesftp andtftp currently only cover the underlying protocols. So either add some command related information in a subsection there, or start a new article on them. We already have this situation with the following commands:reg -Windows Registry,manage-bde -BitLocker,vssadmin -Shadow Copy, makecab & expand -Cabinet (file format),schtasks -Windows Task Scheduler, shutdown -Shutdown (computing), etc.Ghettoblaster (talk)16:42, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
