Why is NITV and Ten HD here? Both are FTA channels, and lots of other such exist and aren't in the list.matturn10:23, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Because in many markets the only practical way for mainstream viewers to receive NITV, Ten etc without incurring major costs or inconvenience is via a subscription TV provider. The FTA channels are therefore not 'free' in those markets. Example: NITV cannot be received in city apartment blocks (where the strata corporation usually bans FTA satellite dishes on the roof) unless the viewer has Foxtel. Turning the argument around, TVSN is FTA but the only practical, minimal marginal cost way to receive it is via a subscription service. Why does the template show "Movie One · Movie Two · Movie Extra · Movie Greats · Showcase · Showtime · Showtime 2 · Showtime Greats" when they can be combined to Movie Network and Showtime Network.
