Template:Alaska has now been harmonized (only 49 states left to harmonize)BigBang11 15 March 2006 01:07 PST (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. states/state templates lists and displays all 50 U.S. state (and additional other) templates. It potentially can be used for ideas and standardization. //MrD907:13, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There is currently an ongoing discussion regarding standardization of state templates (primarily regarding layout and styling) atWikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. states/state templates. An effort was made earlier this year tostandardize Canadian province templates (which mostly succeeded).Lovelac7 and I have already begun standardizing all state templates. If you have any concerns, they should be directed toward the discussion page for state template standardization. Thanks! —WebdingerBLAH |SZ22:37, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My edit was not vandalism! I was making a navbox forAMHS;Template:Alaska_Marine_Highway_System and had originally moved a copy of this over to my userpage to fool with it and figure out the mechanics of navboxes. Apparently I messed it up (no idea how) and I sincerely apologize!L'Aquatiquetalktome20:54, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've createdTemplate:Unorganized Borough, Alaska as a redirect to this page. This is primarily because all other boroughs have their templates, so someone might be encouraged to create an Unorganized template; however, because we have census area templates, there's no need for an Unorganized one; so this way, it's more of a demonstration that one should not be used.Nyttend (talk)15:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So, in the interest of not edit warring any further, I would like to discuss if we can add back (Dutch Harbor) next to the listing for Unalaska, as it had been for at least the last five years. To an alaskan, this may seem like a no-brainer, but of course we can't go by our own experience. What we can go by is the city of Unalaska's own website, which has an entire page about the various names of the city[1] and uses both names its masthead,[2] as does the local convention and visitor's bereau[3] and the State of Alaska itself[4]. That seems like more than enough to justify having it in parenthesis in this template.Beeblebrox (talk)18:49, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay.Mr. Vladimirovic (talk)15:31, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
i think combining smaller and larger cities would be better than arbitrarily separating the settlements and would prevent readers from being mislead. because it also uses an arbitrary population cutoff it would need constant updating adding another instance where readers could be mislead and misinformation to persist.Logoshimpo (talk)03:27, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
A discussion on whether certain US state navigation boxes should be pruned or otherwise systematically altered is atWikipedia talk:WikiProject United States#Pruning navboxes. Please comment there.Johnuniq (talk)06:38, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
