Allow me a critic on this article. It seems to be based on journalist-related leftist stories: whereas there's still controversy about some happenings, you seem to be sure of what you wrote!
A couple of examples: Nicola Calipari was not shot for a "communication breakdown". SISMI officers insisted that the Americans did know well of the incoming arrival of the italian's car at Baghdad airport. Italy still blames (and has issued an arrest warrant) the rush and inexperience of Mario Lozano, who fired at the car without respecting engagement rules. The americans' inquiry on this case tried to blame the car's excessive speed on the checkpoint approach: this conclusion was utterly and sharply refused by Italy, and our envoys did not sign it.
Second example: Nicolò Pollari, the now former head of SISMI (which very recently underwent a general reorganization of the management) is in this article accused of not knowing the procedure of communication with the CIA, bypassing it and communicating with Dick Cheney straightaway. This is frankly difficult to believe, after 40 years of Gladio and strict cooperation with CIA during the Cold War. More, you're quick to accuse SISMI of co-responsibility in the Abu Omar "extraordinary rendition" together with the CIA (which is quite possible), but that raises a contradiction: how could they cooperate like that if they didn't have a clue how to communicate properly with the CIA?
