Valet?

[edit]

Why is a woman manager called a "valet"? There should be some explanation for this improbable and bizarre use of the term. Is it limited to the USA? Is it in fact common, or associated only with one particular enterprise?Royalcourtier (talk)19:48, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Probably related to the concept of a personal valet who lays out and takes care of a person's clothing. Managers often would help wrestlers in and out of their robes and hold on to the robes and other accoutrements (like title belts) during matches. When women first started accompanying wrestlers, they were not presented as having the same control over their charges as male managers, so this clothes related function was comparatively more prominent. ---Khajidha (talk)02:48, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was suprised this article had no references supporting anything, and that there was major formatting errors for something so important to pro-Wrestling. I have added a few things, and re-arranged some of the article, but it still needs some workLee Vilenski(talk)09:28, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
