Hi! First off, I really enjoyed reading this article. The use of technology to increase accessibility is a fascinating topic and relevant to ethics, and I find it amazing how helpful apps can be in bettering the lives of differently abled people. You handled the topic well, organized it nicely, and covered a good variety of available applications. A few small grammar/wording suggestions:First sentence: "...are applications for smart devices such as phones and laptops that *increase* the amount..."Be My Eyes Section: "anytime" in this instance should be two wordsConvo section: you have "an company" in the first sentence. In the same sentence: "...allows deaf users *to* connect.." After the word, "Interpreter," you're missing a space. Your second sentence in this section is a little confusing; I might consider rewording it. What do you mean by increasing communication with business and other important communication opportunities?Your tidbit about the CEO is interesting but feels a little out of place. Can you say more about him? How did his deafness contribute to his becoming the CEO? How long has he been CEO? Has he contributed anything substantial to the company or is he currently working on something substantial? I also might reword how you introduce him—maybe change to: The CEO of Convo, Jarrod Musano, is also deaf... Look at Me: "Reading people's *moods*..." In terms of content, you did a fantastic job explaining how Be My Eyes functions as an app. I completely understood how a person would use the application. Having said that, I think you can better explain the other two. I know about VRS and how it works, but I'm not sure the average reader would. Maybe give a brief explanation about how a typical phone call might go for a deaf person using the app. Further, for Look At Me, what kinds of games are on the app? How do you play them? This was a really interesting read! Great job!Siboyle (talk)18:59, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Instructor Comments: This is excellent, Chayla. Give it another read through for copyediting purposes (Sarah made some suggestions) and you have my OK to go ahead and create the new article. At our meeting, we might want to strategize about what articles you can hyperlink to and what you can include under a "see more" section to make sure the article is well-connected to the broader Wikipedia database. --Jmstew2 (talk)20:16, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agreeCmd300399 (talk)06:31, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Future Directions

[edit]
**Work that seems necessary for this page to make it stronger**

Merger Proposal

[edit]

I think this article should be merged withcomputer accessibility. The computer accessability article is much more detailed, and many accessabile apps have the same function as assisstive software for PCs. As this article is so short, it would be easy enough to merge the two articles.CircleGirl (talk)18:24, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Add sections

[edit]

I think new sections could be added to this stub. Including history, the need and benefits of accessibility apps, and the discriminating aspects of technologyCmd300399 (talk)06:31, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

I removed some of the more egregiousPOV content but there is still some remaining. An example that remains:"New technology is becoming a part of everyday life whether it is shopping, transport, or accessing government services. For this reason, it is important that all groups of society have equal access to technology." This seems to me to be editorializing.

IMO well over half of the article needs to be rewritten to be neutral. I do not consider myself skilled enough to undertake this myself, so I've tagged the article appropriately. --Chris |Crazycomputers (talk)08:02, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
