Swann Arlaud (born 25 March 1981) is a French actor.[4][5] He has appeared in films such asRomantics Anonymous (2010),Elles (2011),Les Anarchistes (2015),The Wakhan Front (2015),Baden Baden (2016),Bloody Milk (2017),By the Grace of God (2019),Valiant Hearts (2021), andAnatomy of a Fall (2023). Arlaud has won threeCésar Awards. He won theCésar Award for Best Actor forBloody Milk in 2018, and theCésar Award for Best Supporting Actor for bothBy the Grace of God in 2020 and forAnatomy of a Fall in 2024.
Arlaud's parents are production designer Yan Arlaud and actress and casting director Tatiana Vialle. His grandparents are actor Max Vialle and singer-songwriter Sonia Laroze.[6][7] Arlaud has two younger half siblings, Tobias and Galathée Nuytten.[citation needed]

Arlaud began his acting career as a child when he was cast in a play directed by his mother. Arlaud didn't consider himself an actor at first, auditioning for television roles to earn money.[8]
Arlaud debuted as a director with the short filmsVenerman (2016) andZorey (2021), both co-written with his mother Tatiana Vialle, the latter premiered at the2021 Cannes Film Festival.[9]
In 2018, Arlaud won theCésar Award for Best Actor for his role of Pierre inBloody Milk. He also wore a white ribbon in support of theMeToo movement at the ceremony.[10]
In 2020, Arlaud won theCésar Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing a child sex abuse survivor inBy the Grace of God.[11]
In 2023, Arlaud played lawyer Vincent inJustine Triet's legal thrillerAnatomy of a Fall,[12] for which he won another César Award for Best Supporting Actor.[13]
In June 2024, Arlaud was invited to become a member of theAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.[14]
Arlaud has a son with French cinematographer Sarah Boutin, with whom he worked in the short filmVenerman (2016).[15]
In February 2020, Arlaud supported actressAdèle Haenel's gesture of leaving the ceremony of the2020 César Awards afterRoman Polanski won the award for Best Director.[16]
In October 2023, alongside other French artists like directorsJustine Triet,Arthur Harari,Céline Sciamma and actress Adèle Haenel, Arlaud signed an open letter published in the newspaperl'Humanité demanding a ceasefire and an end to the killing of civilians amid the2023 Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip and for a humanitarian corridor into Gaza to be established for humanitarian aid.[17] AlongsideAnatomy of a Fall co-starMilo Machado-Graner, Arlaud wore a pin with the Palestinian flag in support of the Palestinian people at the96th Academy Awards ceremony on 10 March 2024.[18]
In January 2024, in the context of sexual assault accusations against actorGérard Depardieu, Arlaud signed a petition expressing support for the victims.[19][20]
In June 2024, Arlaud signed a petition addressed to French PresidentEmmanuel Macron demanding France to officially recognize theState of Palestine.[21]
