Stanley Harvey Lebor (24 September 1934 – 22 November 2014[1]) was an English actor.[2] He was best known for his roles as Howard Hughes in the 1980s BBC TV comedy seriesEver Decreasing Circles, the Mongon Doctor inFlash Gordon (1980), and asRSM Lord inA Bridge Too Far (1977).[3] Before this he was better known for villainous roles in series such asJason King andThe Tomorrow People.[4][5]
Lebor was born inEast Ham,London.[6] He studied acting atRADA in London.[7] In 1961 he joined theRadio Drama Company by winning theCarleton Hobbs Bursary.[8]
He appeared inMinder in the Series 1 episodeThe Bengal Tiger,The Naked Civil Servant,Ever Decreasing Circles,Tarka the Otter,Gandhi,Grange Hill,'Allo 'Allo!,Superman IV: The Quest for Peace andLast of the Summer Wine.[6] In 1986 he acted withLynda Baron in aparty political broadcast for theSDP–Liberal Alliance.[9]
