TheStadium of Fire is a nearly annual event held in theBrigham Young University'sLaVell Edwards Stadium on or very near the United States'Independence Day. It is one of the main events for theAmerica's Freedom Festival.[1] This patriotic extravaganza with a cast of thousands features the largest stadium fireworks show in the USA. It is also televised worldwide to US troops and their families on American Forces TV, as a gift from America's Freedom Festival.
Stadium of Fire originated as the Freedom Festival Panorama. It took on its current format and name in 1980 afterAlan Osmond andMerrill Osmond acquired the festival[2] as one of the money-making events conceived by the Osmond family in the early 1980s to recuperate money from fatherGeorge Osmond's bad business partnerships that had left the family in deep debt.[3] Since 1980, it has become one of the largestIndependence Day celebrations in the United States with super star performers, and the Stadium of Fire Dancers. Since 2004, it has been created and produced by Baruch Gayton Productions.[4]
At the 2024 Stadium of Fire event, a firework malfunction injured 26 people.[5]
