Seth Gabel (born October 3, 1981) is an American actor. He is known for his roles of agentLincoln Lee onFox's television seriesFringe,Cotton Mather onWGN America's seriesSalem, andAdrian Moore on theFX seriesNip/Tuck. He is a grand-nephew of actorMartin Gabel.[2]
Gabel was born to aJewish family inHollywood, Florida.[3][4] He was raised under the surname of his stepfather, who adopted him,Cosentino.[2] He finished his high school fromUniversity School of Nova Southeastern University inDavie, Florida, in 1999 and fromNew York University's Tisch School of the Arts.[2] It was during his youth that he met his best friendJosh Gad.
Gabel starred in the Universal Pictures coming-of-age drama,Take Me Home Tonight and appeared in the 2006 film version ofDan Brown’s novel,The Da Vinci Code, directed by his father-in-law,Ron Howard. Television credits include recurring and guest starring roles onUnited States of Tara,The Closer,Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,Sex and the City, and100 Centre Street, directed bySidney Lumet. He starred inDirty Sexy Money as Jeremy Darling, the charming, rebellious, and exceedingly idiosyncratic son of the privileged and powerful Darling family, and the fraternal twin of socialite Juliet Darling, played bySamaire Armstrong.[5]
Gabel won praise for his portrayal ofAdrian Moore, the sexually confused adopted son of Ava Moore (portrayed byFamke Janssen) on theFX seriesNip/Tuck. The story arc depicting their incestuous and emotionally abusive relationship garnered much attention.[5]
Gabel first appeared on the FOX seriesFringe during the2010–11 TV season. He was promoted to the main cast for thefourth season.[6] The character was written off at the end of that season before returning briefly for the series finale.
On January 30, 2013, Gabel was cast in the episode "Vertigo" of the seriesArrow as a character based onCount Vertigo, known as the Count.[7] He playedCotton Mather inSalem.[8] In 2015, Gabel was cast asJeffrey Dahmer inAmerican Horror Story: Hotel.[9] In 2019 he appeared in an episode of Showtime’sBillions opposite Damian Lewis.
Gabel met actressBryce Dallas Howard atNew York University, and they dated for five years before marrying on June 17, 2006, inGreenwich, Connecticut. They have two children, born in 2007 and 2012.[10][11]
