Sendal, (also spelledcendal orsandal) is a thin and lightsilk material,[1] chiefly used to makeceremonial clothing, churchvestments, andbanners. The word derives from Greekσινδων (sindōn), "finelinen"; the old French word iscendal. The word often describes a fabric woven of a linen warp and a silk weft.[2]
