Scott Eric Neustadter[1] (/njˈstætər/;[2] born 1977) is an Americanscreenwriter andproducer. He often works with his writing partner,Michael H. Weber. The two writers are best known for writing the screenplay for the romantic comedy film500 Days of Summer. The film is based on two real relationships Neustadter had.[3] They also wrote the screenplays for the film adaptations of the novelsThe Spectacular Now,The Fault in Our Stars, andPaper Towns.

For writingThe Disaster Artist, Neustadter and Weber were nominated for anAcademy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. They also created the television seriesFriends with Benefits, which lasted one season.

Life and career

Neustadter was born and raised in aJewish family[4] inMargate City, New Jersey, the son of Anne (née Goldberg) and Michael J. Neustadter.[1] He attendedAtlantic City High School,University of Pennsylvania and graduate studies atThe London School of Economics andThe University of Southern California.[citation needed]

At age 25, Neustadter moved to study inLos Angeles,California, and shortly thereafter moved toSanta Monica, where he currently resides.[citation needed]

Neustadter and Weber wrote the script forThe Disaster Artist (2017), the adaptation ofthe book of the same name.[5] They also wroteOur Souls at Night, an adaptation ofKent Haruf's final novel of the same name, forNetflix, withRobert Redford andJane Fonda playing the lead roles, the first movie they have made together since 1979'sThe Electric Horseman.[6]

As of 204, they are adaptingThe Rosie Project.[7]

Neustadter has been married to Lauren Rachelle Levy since October 9, 2010.[1] The couple has one son and one daughter.
