Sam Hernandez (born November 18, 1969)[1] is an American former professionalfootballdefensive lineman in theArena Football League (AFL). He is fromSan Jose, California, and playedcollege football atSonoma State University.
Hernandez played for theCharlotte Rage,Las Vegas Sting,Anaheim Piranhas, andSan Jose SaberCats. In 2011, Hernandez was elected into theArena Football Hall of Fame.[2]
Hernandez attendedSonoma State University inRohnert Park, California, where he was a member of the football team. From 1990 to 1991, he was the most dominant defensive player in theNorthern California Athletic Conference, twice winning Defensive Player of the Year and two first team All-Northern California Athletic Conference selections.[3]
