Reservoir was included inBillboard magazine’s "Publisher's Quarterly Top 10 Market Share" every year from 2017 to 2021.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

History

Reservoir was founded in 2007 as aMusic Publishing Company by Iranian-CanadianGolnar Khosrowshahi,[14] who is the current CEO.[15]

The publishing catalog includes pieces written and performed byBilly Strayhorn,Hoagy Carmichael,John Denver,Sheryl Crow,Phantogram (band),Lady Gaga,[16]Camila Cabello,Bruno Mars,Cardi B andThomas McClary ofThe Commodores.[17] The company's roster of active writers and producers includesLevi Hummon,[18]James Fauntleroy,Ali Tamposi, andJamie Hartman.

Reservoir’s collection of film music includes rights to scores to motion pictures The Lion King, thePirates of the Caribbean series, Gladiator and The Dark Knight trilogy created by composer-producer Hans Zimmer.

The company expanded in 2010 by acquiringTVT Music Enterprises[19] (its roster includingScott Storch,[20]Lil Jon andThe Cinematics), Reverb Music in 2012, P&P Songs in 2013, First State Media Group (fromBMG Rights Management) in 2014,[21]Century Media's songwriters[22] in 2017,[23]Chrysalis Records in 2019,Shapiro Bernstein[24] andAtlantic Screen Music[25] in 2020.

Reservoir also has a partnership with PopArabia,[26] founded bySpek[27] who serves as Reservoir'sEVP of International &Emerging Markets.

The company also represents recorded music throughChrysalis Records,[28]Tommy Boy Records,[29] andPhilly Groove Records[30] and manages artists withBlue Raincoat Music[31] and Big Life Management.[32]

Reservoir was named "Publisher of the Year" Award at Music Business Worldwide’s A&R Awards in 2017 and 2019. The company also wonMusic Week’s[33] "Independent Publisher of the Year" in 2020 and in 2022.[34]

Reservoir’s President[35] andCOO,Rell Lafargue also serves on the board of directors for theMechanical Licensing Collective (MLC),[36] the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP),[37] and Music Publishers Canada (MPC).[38]

In 2021, Reservoir also became a publicly traded company,[39][40] listed on theNasdaq stock exchange under the ticker RSVR. TheIPO was the result of a business combination withspecial-purpose acquisition company Roth CH Acquisition Co. II.[41][42]

In March 2022, Reservoir acquired rights to the catalog of film-score composerHenry Jackman.[43] The company acquired the rights to theMiles Davis publishing catalog in September 2025.[44]
