Relative analgesia machine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dental sedation device

Arelative analgesia machine is used bydentists to induce inhalationsedation in their patients. It delivers a mixture ofnitrous oxide ("laughing gas") andoxygen. A relative analgesia machine is simpler than ananaesthetic machine, as it does not feature the additionalmedical ventilator andanaesthetic vaporiser, which are only needed for administration ofgeneral anesthetics. Instead the relative analgesia machine is designed for the light form ofanaesthesia with nitrous oxide, where the patient is less sensitive to pain but remains fully conscious.[1]
