Ravneet Singh Bittu is an Indian politician fromPunjab. He is currently serving as theMinister of State for Railways and as theMinister of State for Food Processing Industries in theThird Modi ministry. He is currently serving as an MP of Rajya Sabha representing Rajasthan since August 2024 as a member of theBharatiya Janata Party. He was elected to theLok Sabha, the lower house of theParliament of India fromLudhiana in2014 and2019 Indian general election and earlier fromAnandpur Sahib in2009.[3] He is the grandson of formerPunjab Chief MinisterBeant Singh.[4][5] He previously served as the leader ofIndian National Congress inLok Sabha from 11 March 2021 to 18 July 2021.[1][2][6]
In January 2021, he was assaulted at the Singhu border during a Jan Sansad program.[7][8] He was appointed the party whip in Lok Sabha.[9] In March 2021, he was briefly appointed theleader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha when the existing Congress Lok Sabha leaderAdhir Ranjan Chowdhury was busy in the2021 West Bengal election campaigns.[10] In 2023, he received a bomb threat via aWhatsApp call.[11] On March 24, 2024, he joined theBharatiya Janta Party.[12][13]
