Rabilal Tudu (born 21 December 1949) is an Indian Santali writer and banker fromWest Bengal. He is known for his contribution to Santali literature and was awarded theSahitya Akademi Award in 2015. In 2026, he was honoured with thePadma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, for his contribution to literature and education.[1][2][3]
Tudu was born on 21 December 1949 in Nowara village in Bardhaman district of West Bengal. His father was Ramessore Tudu and his mother was Bhasani Tudu. He has been associated with both literary activities and the banking profession.[citation needed]
He has written plays for stage and radio, contributing significantly to Santali drama and literary culture.[4]
Tudu received theSahitya Akademi Award in 2015 for his playParsi Khatir.[5][6][7]
In July 2022, he was selected to receive theBanga Bhushan award by theGovernment of West Bengal in recognition of his contribution toSantali literature and culture.[8][9]
