Pullman–Moscow, WA–ID CSA is theUnited States Census Bureau's official name for thecombined statistical area in thenorthwestUnited States that includes thePullman micropolitan area (all ofWhitman County, Washington) and theMoscow micropolitan area (all ofLatah County, Idaho). The combined population of the two counties was 87,490 as of the2020 census, and estimated at 90,579 in 2024.[1]
The states'land grant universities are both located here, less than eight miles (13 km) apart:Washington State University in Pullman and theUniversity of Idaho in Moscow. Outside of these two cities, the two counties are predominantlyrural andagricultural. The CSA is the center of thePalouse region, a former prairie characterized by its dune-like hills. The cities of Moscow and Pullman are roughly four miles apart, and are connected byWashington State Route 270, more commonly known as the Moscow-Pullman Highway.
