Pinpanetta is an extinctgenus ofbirds, in theduck family, from theLate Oligocene of central Australia. The genus name comes from Lake Pinpa, in theLake Eyre Basin of north-easternSouth Australia, with reference to the Pinpa Local Fauna from which much of thedescriptive fossil material derives, and from theGreeknetta (“duck”).
