Payhembury is a village andcivil parish in theEast Devon district ofDevon, England.
The village is about six miles west ofHoniton. At the time of the 2021 consensus the parish had a population of ~790,[1] and it is surrounded clockwise from the north by the parishes ofBroadhembury,Awliscombe,Buckerell,Feniton,Talaton,Clyst Hydon andPlymtree.[2] The parish includes thehamlets of Colestocks, Lower Cheriton, Tale, and Upton.[3]
The parish church is dedicated to St. Mary and was mostly built in the fifteenth century. It includes a stone arcade made ofBeer Stone which has several shields including the arms of theCourtenay family, a coloured roof andaltar rails from the reign ofQueen Anne.[4]
