Patty Berg-Burnett (néeBerg) is a volleyball player and coach. She played collegiately forSan Joaquin Delta College and theUniversity of the Pacific.

Early years

Berg grew up inLodi, California. She attendedLodi High School, where she excelled in volleyball, basketball and softball.[1]

College

Berg initially attendedSan Joaquin Delta College for a single year,[2] then transferred toPacific where she graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in physical education.[1] While at Pacific, she played for coachTerry Liskevych. In 1980, as a middle blocker,[3] she helped lead her volleyball team to the title match of theAIAW National Championship, where Pacific finished as runner up toUSC.[4] Berg won the Broderick Award (now theHonda Sports Award) as the nation's best female collegiate volleyball player for 1980–81.[5] She was named an All-American by theAIAW for 1980.[6]

Berg represented the USA at theWorld University games of 1981, held inBucharest, Romania.[7]

Coaching career

Berg-Bernett taught in the Lodi Unified School District for 31 years.[2] She served as a coach of volleyball and badminton atTokay High School in the 1980s, and later coached at another school in the district,McNair High School.[1]
