TheOfayé (also spelled asOpaié orOfayé) are anindigenous people of CentralBrazil. They live along theParaná River, near the mouth of theSucuriú River into the headwaters of theIvinhema andVacaria Rivers.[1]
Their traditional lands were overtaken by cattle ranchers.[1] Most Ofayé live in a reservation located in the municipality ofBrasilândia in the state ofMato Grosso do Sul.
TheOfaye language, alanguage isolate is severely endangered, and only two people were recorded speaking it in 2005.[2]
