O-hook (Ҩ ҩ; italics:Ҩ ҩ) is a letter of theCyrillic script. It is derived from the initial form of theArabic letter hāʾ,هـ.[citation needed] Its form bears some similarities to theGreek letter Theta (Θ θ/ϑ) and Latin letter Q. In theUnicode text-encoding standard, this letter is called "Abkhazian Ha".[1]

ItsISO 9Romanization is theLatin letter O with grave accent (Ò ò).[2] InEnglish, O-hook is commonlyromanized using theLatin letter O with dot below (Ọ ọ).[citation needed]

O-hook is used in the Cyrillic alphabet of theAbkhaz language where it represents thelabial-palatal approximant/ɥ/, the sound of⟨ui⟩ inFrench "huit" ([ɥi]). It is placed betweenЫ andЏ in the Abkhaz alphabet.[3]
