Nyles Thomas Morgan (born August 16, 1996) is an American professionalfootballlinebacker for theOttawa Redblacks of theCanadian Football League (CFL). He playedcollege football for theNotre Dame Fighting Irish. He has also been a member of theTennessee Titans andChicago Bears of theNational Football League (NFL), theArizona Hotshots of theAlliance of American Football (AAF), theSeattle Sea Dragons of theXFL, and theEdmonton Elks of the CFL.

Early life

Morgan playedhigh school football atCrete-Monee High School inCrete, Illinois.[1] He recorded 107 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 2012.[1] In 2013, he totaled 115 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception (which was returned for a touchdown), earning first teamUSA TodayAll-American honors.[1] He also played in theU.S. Army All-American bowl.[1]

College career

Morgan playedcollege football atNotre Dame from 2014 to 2017.[1][2] He played in 12 games starting four, in 2014, totaling 47 tackles, half a sack, and one pass breakup, garnering freshman All-American recognition.[1][3][4] He appeared in 13 games in 2015 and made 17 tackles. Morgan started 12 games in 2016, accumulating 94 tackles, four sacks, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery.[3][4][1] He played in 12 games in 2017, recording 91 tackles and 1.5 sacks.[3][4][1] He was also a team captain in 2017, but was stripped of his captaincy for the2018 Citrus Bowl due to an "internal team matter".[5]

Professional career

Chicago Bears

Morgan signed with theChicago Bears of theNational Football League (NFL) on May 11, 2018 after going undrafted in the2018 NFL draft.[6][7] He was released on May 14, 2018.[6]

Tennessee Titans

Morgan was signed by theTennessee Titans of the NFL on August 21, 2018. He was released on September 1, 2018.[6]

Arizona Hotshots

Morgan played in eight games, starting three, for theArizona Hotshots of theAlliance of American Football (AAF) in 2019, recording 58 tackles and one forced fumble.[3][8]

Seattle Sea Dragons

Morgan appeared in five games for theSeattle Sea Dragons of theXFL in 2020, totaling 18 tackles and half of a sack.[3][8]

Edmonton Elks

Morgan signed with theEdmonton Elks of theCanadian Football League (CFL) on July 1, 2021.[9][6] He was placed oninjured reserve on November 4, and activated from injured reserve on November 12, 2021.[6] Overall, he dressed in 13 games, all starts, for the Elks in 2021, accumulating 66 tackles on defense, sixspecial teams tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.[3][8][10]

Morgan was placed on injured reserve several times during the 2022 season.[6] Overall, he dressed in six games, all starts, in 2022, recording 41 tackles on defense, one special teams tackle and one forced fumble.[3][8][10]

Morgan signed a two-year extension with the Elks on January 26, 2023.[11] He was placed on injured reserve twice in 2023.[6] He dressed in 15 games, all starts, during the 2023 season, totaling 107 tackles on defense, four sacks and one interception.[3][8][10] He finished second in the league in tackles despite missing three games.[12][13] Morgan also became only the third player in team history to record over 100 tackles in a season.[14]

Ottawa Redblacks

On December 27, 2025, it was announced that Morgan had been traded to theOttawa Redblacks in exchange for a series of2026 CFL draft picks.[15]
