Nahla Chahal

Lebanese writer, researcher and activist

Nahla Chahal is anIraqi-Lebanese writer, journalist, researcher and activist, born to anIraqi father andLebanese mother, who were both communist militants.[1][2] She was one of the leaders of theOrganization of Communist Action of Lebanon and a participant in theLebanese Communist Party. She is also a columnist atAl Hayat pan Arabic newspaper, which is published inLondon. She taught at theLebanese University for eleven years, then she later moved to Paris to focus more on research and is now president of the Arab Women Researchers Association.

She is sister of late film directorRanda Chahal and currently resides inParis,France, where Randa died.
