NGC 124 is aspiral galaxy in the constellationCetus. It was discovered byTruman Henry Safford on September 23, 1867.[4] The galaxy was described as "very faint, large, diffuse, 2 faint stars to northwest" byJohn Louis Emil Dreyer, the compiler of theNew General Catalogue.[4]

The 17th magnitude supernovaSN 2004dd was discovered in this galaxy on 12 July 2004.[5] It was atype II supernova.[6]
