Mossyna (Ancient Greek:Μοσσύνα) orMosyna (Μοσύνα) was a city of the middleMaeander valley in the lateRoman provincePhrygia Pacatiana II. It is mentioned as a bishopric byHierocles and other ecclesiastical writers.[1][2][3] It may have been named for the classicalMossynoeci, or for the Greek word for a wooden tower (Μοσσύν).[3]
Mossyna became aByzantine bishopric, located betweenDionysopolis andLaodikeia, and is included in theCatholic Church's list oftitular sees.[4]
Its site is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) northeast ofÇal, inDenizli Province,Turkey.[5]
