Michael D. Curran

Michael D. Curran (born September 23, 1945) is a retired politician and formerDemocratic member of theIllinois House of Representatives from 1983 to 1995. He was born inFort Pierce, Florida[1] and grew up inQuincy, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree from theUniversity of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.[2] He retired from the Illinois House of Representatives and ran for Mayor of Springfield, losing toKaren Hasara. He and Vicki Mosley were the last two Democrats to represent Springfield in theIllinois General Assembly until the election ofAndy Manar andSue Scherer to theIllinois Senate and Illinois House, respectively.[3] A year later, he ran for Congress inIllinois's 18th congressional district losing to incumbentRay LaHood. In 2003, Curran was sentenced to one year in federal prison for abusing his position with theIllinois Secretary of State.[4]
