Meiō (明応), also known asMei-ō, was aJapanese era name (年号,nengō; "year name") afterEntoku and beforeBunki. This period spanned the years from July 1492 (533 years ago) (1492-07) through February 1501 (525 years ago) (1501-02).[1] Reigning emperors wereGo-Tsuchimikado-tennō (後土御門天皇) andGo-Kashiwabara-tennō (後柏原天皇).[2]
