I'd taken a look at this one before; while I' saw at least one example of spamming, it may have been added in good faith by other users as a reference for Chinese business topics. Per #3 in the instructions above, it's currently used as a refrence on a number of pages. As to whether or not it's anWP:RS, I'd sayprobably not, but possibly. Might be good to bring up atWP:RSN then take it from there.OhNoitsJamieTalk04:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've only seen this one IP adding it (usually with one edit but once buried within some other less crappy edits) so this might be a one-off, I must admit. Nevertheless, with no useful use here, and without evidence of it not being added before (prove a negative, Jamie! Go on, I dare you.Sorry!) there doesn't seem to be any harm in blocking it. But I may be wrong, after almost a decade here this seems to be the default! :-) —TREY MATURIN has spoken19:00, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Recovered my account and logged in so I can try to straighten this out. Please, do not block me as I am struggling enough. This is an ongoing issue. There is even a current lawsuit. There are hundreds of .xyz spam sites linking to us. Facebook had to help us recover groups. We have a mile long disavow list on Google. I get taunted about it as I was today. All since having to part ways with someone late last year. My se rankings are dropping. Can you block ips instead? Heck, ban my url privately if that helps, but the SEO damage this creates is the goal. I am linked in other Wikipedia articles, am on Research Gate, etc.— Precedingunsigned comment added byBrianWI (talk •contribs)17:57, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
After getting a warning on Pooja Savansukha, switched to sockpuppeting. 5 new accounts or awakened sleeper accounts so far today. Also filing a SPI, this looks like a paid editing ring. -MrOllie (talk)12:17, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi MrOllie
Sorry for the confusion. We work for an online free encyclopedia (specifically on Indian art) launched by MAP Academy this year, and were just adding links to our legitimate articles on those subjects here on wikipedia. We are art writers with a background in art history and we are genuinely interested in contributing to wikipedia.
I understand that this can look like spam however. Would it be possible to arrange a wiki editathon, or other collaboration between our two encyclopedias? Please let me know.
Majority of links from this site are written in a way to attract readers to Rampal's religious works. The articles usually follow a pattern. The users change or add a reference to an important day (such as father's day or world tobacco day) to this site, the article on the site gives a brief introduction of that day but somehow ends up directing readers to religious practice. For example, an article for Autism day gives a brief definition of the word but ends up claiming that it can be cured with 'this' religious practice.Kenm v2 (talk)07:16, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thank you for paying attention my request. It's being used (not spammed though) buy quite a few people but I haven't found a single article that can be characterised as a good refernece. All of them end up promoting their saint at the end of the article.
In text: With the birth anniversary of one of the renowned litterateurs Rabindranath Tagore, let us make ourselves aware about the biggest literature of True Spiritual Knowledge or Tatvgyan.
In text: It is grave ignorance to fight on any issue in the world. Everything is imperishable. Human birth will be fruitful if a person performs the True Devotion of the Absolute Supreme God Kabir Saheb and ensures its place in the Eternal Abode.
In text: The pious soul tried to do his level best for humanity, but he did not find an enlightened saint who could have guided him for the right human life’s purpose. There are many unfortunate pious souls without achieving the right spiritual guide.
These are just three articles. Every single article on this site links the topic with the saint's teachings. The last one is claiming that Rajiv Gandhi had no one to guide him to his life's purpose. In my opinion, it is offensive to use an article about his death to make this claim.
Unfortunately, I did not get a reply on my WP:RSN post so I assume it's not going to get blocked. Please feel free to archive.Kenm v2 (talk)04:51, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Relatedly, this is preventing me from adding talk-page links to mathstodon.xyz, an innocuous twitter-like social media site focusing on mathematics (see e.g. recent discussion atEN:WT:WPM#Use of Latin in Mathematics at which I wanted to add such a link). Please whitelist or undo this overbroad blacklist. —David Eppstein (talk)21:45, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Peter James: I have added the addition to the loghere, it got missed by the addition script for some reason.
@David Eppstein: the .xyz TLD is handed out very liberally. Until the blacklisting of the whole TLD we found ourselves blacklisting .xyz TLDs very very regularly (here we were discussing 3 of them reported within 5 days), many of them are spam. At some point the unrestricted addition of certain domains (or even, whole TLDs) becomes a burden on the editors to keep on removing them, if not plainly disruptive to the whole of the project (the TLDs inlcude copyright violating lyrics and movie download sites, plain spam, blacklist evasion through redirection, etc. etc.). We are very liberally whitelisting .xyz sites (actually, I was whitelisting them too liberally, one I whitelisted got abused!). --Dirk BeetstraTC07:31, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Importantly, the site offers comprehensive coverage of Indian cinema - and has done so for 22+ years! It would be fantastic to whitelist the site so several sources from the early 2000s can be used for old film articles (most coverage of Indian cinema online emerged post-2006) - this really is a goldmine to save some undersourced articles. It offers nothing significantly different in quality to other film sites.
Defer toGlobal blacklist It's blacklisted globally, not locally. Whitelisting is for requesting specific links for specific purposes; we don't whitelist entire domains to circumvent a meta blacklisting.OhNoitsJamieTalk18:48, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Neutral Fan andKailash29792:Declined, the disruption by Dot Com Infoway was massive and experience teaches that spamming generally does not stop (especially on the larger cases). This was blacklisted during a request onAN to ban Dot Com Infoway. You may be able to get this locally whitelisted, but with a proper community consensus (a proper WP:RS discussion may help), delisting on meta would likely require such consensusses on multiple wikis. --Dirk BeetstraTC10:35, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The account listed above is another sock of the AryaShah LTA. Looking through the editing pattern of these sock accounts, I believe that this is one of the links that has been spammed on their user pages numerous times, as it appears that this is the company this LTA works for (although I can’t check for sure since the pages were deleted, but you can double check if you would like to).ProClasher97 ~Have A Question?07:02, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hii I'm Moorthi. Sorry for my bad English. I'm a blogger. I am publishing my own quotes and poem's. I have purchased expired domain (lovequotesintamil.com) from hostinger domain provider before 6 months. Recently I'm reading a Tamil article from ta.wikipedia site. That article suitable with my site content. So i was trying to add reference link with that article. But Wikipedia shows that the url was banned. I don't know why the url was banned by Wikipedia. So please remove the url (lovequotestamil.com) from banned list.Vinayagas (talk)17:22, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First, that's on the global blacklist and second, that isn't a reason to unlist it. It's actually a reason to keep it on the global blacklist.PRAXIDICAE🌈17:26, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This website offers a lot of important artists biographies (they have more information than in wikipedia in their pages). It should be useful to have it for italian international artists: such as alberto burri, giorgio de chirico, lucio fontana and so on. I would like to put some link of the useful content, but I think it is not possible due to the blacklist
