Manuel "Manu"Pineda Marín (pronounced[ˈmanupiˈneða]; born 2 September 1965) is a Spanishcommunist politician from theUnited Left coalition whowas elected as aMember of the European Parliament in 2019.[1] He is the long-time head of international relations for theSpanish Communist Party (PCE).[2]
On 15 September 2022, he was one of 16 MEPs who voted against condemning PresidentDaniel Ortega ofNicaragua for human rights violations, in particular the arrest of BishopRolando Álvarez.[3][4]
Pineda is a member ofSamidoun and Unadikum, an organization that supports theBoycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement and thePopular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.Israel banned him from entering the country in 2022. In June 2023 inBeirut, Sheikh Yusuf Abbas presented Pineda with the Ambassador of Return award fromThe Global Campaign to Return to Palestine.[5][6][7]
