
Marjorie Acosta-Ruiz, known professionally asMJ Acosta-Ruiz, is a Dominican-American sports reporter forNFL Network who joinedESPN as anchor of the Los Angeles edition ofSportscenter in 2024.
Acosta grew up inWashington Heights, Manhattan inNew York City before moving toMiami, Florida, where she attendedMiami Sunset Senior High School[1] and her father is a former professionalbasketball player from theDominican Republic.[2] Acosta attendedBarry University, where she graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications.[2][3]
Acosta was anNFL cheerleader for theMiami Dolphins for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.[1] Prior to joining Telemundo 20, Acosta was a sports reporter at WPLG-TV, theABC's affiliate inMiami andFort Lauderdale.[3] Acosta was covering theNFL'sSan Diego Chargers as a reporter at Telemundo 20 in San Diego since joining the station in 2016. In August 2018, Acosta announced that she would be leavingSan Diego's Telemundo 20 forNFL Network as their Bay Area-based reporter for theSan Francisco 49ers andOakland Raiders.[4][5][6]Acosta-Ruiz joined ESPN in 2024 as anchor of Los Angeles edition of Sportscenter and serves as sideline reporter onMonday Night Football forESPN Deportes.
