City Corporation is alocal government authority that manages all civic services inmetropolitancities ofBangladesh. The city corporation government is elected by popular vote every five years. Each city corporation is headed by amayor, who presides over thecouncillors. The City Corporations operates under the provisions ofThe City Corporation act, 2009. There are 13city corporations in Bangladesh.[1] Two of them are present in the capitalDhaka. One each is present in the other 8 divisional cities, with 5 others. They perform a variety of socio-economic and civic functions.Bogura is the newest on the list.[2]
