Kira Buckland (born July 16, 1987) is an American voice actress who has provided voices for English dubbed Japanese anime, cartoons, and video games. Buckland was born on July 16, 1987, in Anchorage, Alaska.^[1]

Career

Buckland started voice acting in 2004, where she worked on numerous projects such asradio dramas andcomputer/video games. She rose to prominence online for voicing characters inNewgrounds Flash animations and series onYouTube under her Internet pseudonym "Rina-chan", participating in parodies, collaborations and original works.

While a student atWest High School, she became president of the anime club and founded the first Alaskananime convention with the president of the anime club from Dimond High,Senshi-Con, based inAnchorage, Alaska.^[2]^[3] She won theAnime Expo 2007 Idol Voice Acting competition, as well as theSakura-Con 2007 animated voice acting award.^[4]^[5] She is primarily known for her voice work on video games and English anime dubs.^[6]

Personal life

Buckland graduated with a degree in Japanese and is proficient in Spanish.^[7] She moved to Southern California in 2011 and worked miscellaneous jobs while training to be a professional voice actor, such as a feline neonatal caregiver.^[6]

Before her professional career, Buckland was familiar with themanga seriesJoJo's Bizarre Adventure, got atattoo of a star on the back of her neck which resembles the Joestar Birthmark, and during her career expressed a desire to voice of the characterJolyne Cujoh in an official project.^[6] She would eventually voice the character in the anime adaptation ofJoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
