Khorasani Turks (Persian:ترک‌های خراسان;Khorasani Turkic: خوراسان تؤرکلری) are aTurkicethnic group inhabiting part ofNorth Khorasan,Razavi Khorasan andGolestan provinces of Iran, as well as in the neighboring regions ofTurkmenistan up to beyond theAmu Darya River[clarification needed] and speakKhorasani Turkic. Some can also speakKurdish due to intermarriages withKhorasani Kurds, and they can also speakPersian as it is the lingua franca of Iran.[3]

The Khorasani Turks are not to be confused with other Turkic groups which have arrived in Khorasan more recently, especiallyIranian Azerbaijanis, who had a presence in the area, especially inMashhad, from about the early 20th century.[4]
