Jordan Bhekithemba Zemura (born 14 November 1999) is a professionalfootballer who plays as aleft-back forSerie A clubUdinese. Born in England, Zemura represents theZimbabwe national team.
Zemura went to theOasis Academy Isle of Sheppey for secondary school[4] and went on to studySport Science atCanterbury Christ Church University.[5] He has also represented his country at athletics.[4]
Zemura joinedQueens Park Rangers' academy at the age of six, spending three years there. He had a brief trial withChelsea, before moving toCharlton Athletic, where he spent eight years in their youth setup.[6]
Zemura was signed byBournemouth following a successful trial period in 2019.[7] He made his debut for Bournemouth on 15 September 2020 in anEFL Cup tie againstCrystal Palace at theVitality Stadium, which Bournemouth won 11–10 on penalties after regulation time ended in a goalless draw;[8] Zemura scored his penalty in the shootout.[9]
Zemura started in Bournemouth's opening fixture againstWest Brom, his first league start for the club, with the game finishing 2–2.[10] An impressive start to the 2021–22 season saw Zemura win the club's Player of the Month award for August, starting all five league games in an unbeaten opening to the season for the Cherries.[11] Zemura scored his first two professional goals on 11 September 2021, netting a brace in a 3–0 win overBarnsley.[12]
On 12 April 2023,Serie A sideUdinese officially announced that Zemura would join the club on afree transfer at the start of the2023–24 season, signing a four-year deal in the process.[13][14]
Despite being born inLondon, Zemura representsZimbabwe on the international stage as he holds Zimbabwean citizenship. Both of his parents were born in Zimbabwe, his father inMurehwa and his mother inWedza.[5]
He was called up to the Zimbabwe squad for the2021 AFCON Qualifiers againstZambia andBotswana in November 2019 but was forced to withdraw due to an expired passport.[15] He debuted for the Zimbabwe national team in a 3–12021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification loss toAlgeria on 13 November 2020.[16]
Zemura was named in the Zimbabwe squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.[17]
