John William Frederick James Petts (born 2 October 1938) is an English former professionalfootball player and manager.
Petts was born inEdmonton, London.[1] Awing half, he joinedArsenal in 1954,[2] and made 32 appearances for them inthe Football League.[3] He later played forReading andBristol Rovers,[3] before playing non-league football withBath City andTrowbridge Town.[4] He was also an England youth international.[1]
Petts later had a spell as manager ofNorthampton Town between 1977 and 1978.[5]
His sonPaul was also a professional footballer.[6]
