TheIslamic State – Pakistan Province[a](ISPP) is the Pakistani branch of theIslamic State. It was formed as a split of theIslamic State – Khorasan Province (ISKP).
In May 2019, the Islamic State announced the creation of Pakistan Province onAmaq News Agency. Prior to the creation of ISPP, theISKP was in charge of Islamic State activities in all of Pakistan. ISKP is active inKhyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), while ISPP is active in Pakistani provincesPunjab,Balochistan andAzad Kashmir, as well asSistan and Baluchestan province of Iran. It is a separate group from the unofficialISJK faction. Shortly after its creation, ISPP killed a Pakistani policeman inMastung and aTTP militant inQuetta.[1][2][3] ISPP also killedShiaHazara refugees.[4][5] Immediately after the creation of ISPP, theGovernment of Punjab called for measures against ISPP.[6]
ISPP has claimed responsibility for the2024 Sibi bombing and the2024 Balochistan bombings.[7]
On 15 April 2025, a bus carrying personnel from thePakistani security forces was targeted with animprovised explosive device, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to twenty others.[8] The Islamic State – Pakistan Province claimed responsibility for the attack.[9]
On 6 February 2026, a suicide bomber of the ISPPblew up in a Shia Imambarghah during Friday prayers, killing 31 people and injuring 170+ others.[10]
